What is a Fabric Port (F_Port)?

What does F_Port stand for?

The material port (F_port) is a cloth Switch port used to connect an N_port to a transfer in a Fiber Channel Topology. It uses a fiber channel point-to-factor (FC-P2P) topology – a structure connecting two fiber channel Devices. An F_port can best be related to 1 N_port or to a Peripheral Device inclusive of a Host or disc running as an N_port. An N_port is a Node Port connecting a Node to a fiber channel transfer.
