Thumbing refers to a Method of tyPing that employs most effective thumbs. Thumbing is used on a hand held tool with a built-in Keyboard that is too small to type with all hands.

Thumbing is frequently used for Text Messaging or typing on a BlackBerry, Personal facts assistant (PDA) or Cell phone. The tiny keyboard on those gadgets may be referred to as a thumb keyboard.
